Back to school means shopping, right?
I mean, as the weather gets a bit colder and your mum starts checking you’ve got enough clothes and shoes that fit you, who wants to think about who’s going to be in your class, or which teacher you’ve got? What you want to be thinking about is this:
– schoolbag/backpack. Is it cool? Can it contain all your stuff? Can it look like it came from Roxy or Ambercrombie without costing as much as your last holiday?
– pencils, rubbers, pens, protractors, post-its, felt-tips, notebooks, files … Anything with a pattern. Ideally from Paperchase.
– ……… and best of all …………. pencil case. MY FAVOURITE PART! It almost makes going back to school worthwhile. Almost.
My favourite places to look and dream are Paperchase, Emma Bridgewater and Cath Kidston (their little makeup bags make cute cases, if you’re into the flowery thing). But not forgetting WHSmith. Going back to school just isn’t normal without a trip to Smiths, now that Woolworths isn’t around any more. And check out the purple spotty pencil case. £2.69. I want.
Jenny has the same old red furry pencil case from when she was in primary school. Very moth-eaten and going bald in places. She says it’s her lucky charm. I say it’s a waste of a good excuse to go to Smiths.
Crow designs her own, naturally.
Edie checks out worthy websites. Edie likes her pencil case to be made out of recycled materials, be good for the environment and ideally to help raise money to educate children in less developed countries, like the Philippines. I say, dream on kiddo, it’s a pencil case, not world peace. However, Edie found this one. Not exactly a pencil case, but close enough. It fits all her categories! All of them. It’s made by these people, who help out children who work on the mega rubbish tip in Manila called Smokey Mountain. And more than that, it’s cute!
Me jealous. Me want. But Edie got it first. Now I’ve got to go and choose my own. Any suggestions? If not, the purple spotty one it is.
